"Alice au pays des merveilles" de Lewis Carroll est l'un des contes de fées les plus appréciés que les enfants et les adultes du monde entier apprécient de relire.
Mais en même temps, c'est aussi l'un des travaux les plus difficiles à traduire dans d'autres langues. L'auteur utilise généreusement des métaphores, des références et des jeux de mots qui ne sont compréhensibles que par les Britanniques, exploite des comptines populaires et des caractéristiques culturelles. L'œuvre est pleine de subtilités philologiques, de nuances et d'humour linguistique.
Le traducteur est confronté à la tâche la plus difficile: transmettre toute cette variété de significations et la rendre compréhensible à un petit lecteur russophone. Même Vladimir Nabokov a entrepris la traduction et, dans sa version, Alice est soudainement devenue Anya. Il existe une opinion selon laquelle les traductions de livres deviennent obsolètes avec le temps et doivent être mises à jour au moins une fois tous les 50 ans.
